“Five Interesting Tracts”

A 1-Page Handout // February 18, 2009 (Note: All emphasis is mine unless otherwise stated.)
Chick Publications currently has available five illustrated tracts in English and in Spanish that deal with Roman Catholicism. I will be listing them in alphabetical order below, with a brief description of each. But first, here are three definitions from “Webster’s 1828 American Dictionary of the English Language” to aid in understanding the descriptions of these five tracts:
“Eucharist”:
“The sacrament of the Lord’s supper…”
“Mass”: “The
service of the Romish [Ed.: i.e., Roman Catholic] church; the office or
prayers used at the celebration of the Eucharist; the consecration of the bread
and wine.”
“Transubstantiation”: “In the Romish [Ed.: i.e., Roman Catholic] theology, the supposed conversion of the bread and wine in the Eucharist [Ed.: i.e., the sacrament of the Lord’s supper], into the body and blood of Christ.” [Ed.: Many Christians were burned at the stake for refusing to affirm this doctrine!]
1. “Are Roman Catholics Christians?” – This illustrated tract deals with the seven sacraments of the Roman Catholic Church: Baptism, Penance (i.e., auricular confession to an authorized priest), the Holy Eucharist (i.e., the Mass and Transubstantiation), Confirmation, Matrimony, Holy Orders, and the Anointing of the Sick (formerly called “Extreme Unction”). This tract shows that a number of these Roman Catholic “sacraments” are contrary to the teachings of the Holy Bible. It also briefly examines the doctrine of “Purgatory” and the exaltation of the Roman Catholic “Mary” as “Queen of Heaven”. The key point of this tract is that Roman Catholics jump through many religious “hoops”; however, performance of Papal Rome’s religious observances and practices does not make them genuine, born-again Christians.
2. “Death Cookie, The” – This illustrated tract deals exclusively with the Roman Catholic sacrament of the Holy Eucharist, i.e., the Mass and Transubstantiation. It shows that this practice of worshipping a religious wafer goes all the way back to Ancient Egypt, specifically to the Egyptians’ worship of their sun god, Osiris. (Interestingly, the Egyptian priests claimed that their “wafers” had changed into the flesh of their sun god, Osiris!) Might the worship of the Roman Catholic “wafer god” be an act of idolatry?
3. “Last Rites” – This illustrated tract deals with a Roman Catholic who has died and is now standing before God. The Roman Catholic tells God about all the “religious duties” that he has fulfilled within the Roman Catholic Church – but God replies that these Roman Catholic religious duties – referred to as “false teachings” – are the reason that this Roman Catholic is headed for “the lake of fire”.
4. “Papa?” – This illustrated tract is the latest Chick tract on the topic of Roman Catholicism. It starts out with a newscast about the death of the pope, and then deals with a brief history of the papacy. It also briefly covers the various sacraments within the Roman Catholic Church, and the doctrine of “Purgatory” – which this tract describes as “a religious scam” and “religious kidnapping”.
5. “Why is Mary Crying?” – This illustrated tract points out that the humble Mary of the Bible, the mother of Jesus Christ’s physical body, would be shocked to see how Roman Catholicism has exalted the “Virgin Mary” as the “Queen of Heaven”, “co-mediatrix”, etc. In other words, Roman Catholicism has borrowed the Babylonian goddess, Semiramis, and dressed her up in “Romish clothing”. (For more information on “Mary”, please read my article, “The Real Mary”, on www.toughissues.org. You can also order a 224-page, illustrated, paperback book, “Babylon Religion: How a Babylonian goddess became the Virgin Mary”, by David W. Daniels, from Chick Publications for $13.94 [includes S&H in the U.S.A.].)
Notes:
(1.) Remember, the five illustrated tracts listed above are ALSO available in the Spanish language!
(2.) Most of the tracts listed above finish with an appeal to Roman Catholics to “come out of” the Roman Catholic system. (See Revelation 18:4.) To order these tracts (15 cents apiece plus S&H) or the book, “Babylon Religion”, please call Chick Publications at 1-909-987-0771, or visit www.chick.com.
