“POPES & INFALLIBILITY

(Popes: Their “Crimes against Humanity” and False Claims of “Infallibility”)

NOTE: All “emphasis” throughout this newsletter, unless otherwise noted, is by the editor of “Examining the Tough Issues (ETI)”.

WARNING: This ETI newsletter may seriously “disturb” some folks’ “comfort zones”; however, TRUTH is far more important than any of our “comfort zones”.

DEFINITIONS (hopefully in alphabetical order):

“Anathema” (per Webster’s 1828 American Dictionary of the English Language; Meaning #1): “Excommunication with curses. Hence, a curse or denunciation by ecclesiastical authority, accompanying excommunication (See the definition for “Excommunicate”.)

“Anathema” (per Webster’s New World College Dictionary, Fourth Edition; 2006): “1. A thing or person accursed or damned.  2. A thing or person greatly detested.  3. a) A solemn ecclesiastical condemnation of a teaching judged to be gravely opposed to accepted church doctrine, or of the originators or supporters of such a teaching. b) The excommunication often accompanying or following this condemnation.” (See “Excommunicate”)

((Ed. Comment to the preceding two definitions: Many “anathemas” were hurled at the teachings of Protestantism at the Council of Trent (1545-1563), and these “anathemas” were reconfirmed by the Vatican II Council (1962-1965). Author Dave Hunt, in his book A Woman Rides the Beast (1994), on page 521, tells us: “Anathema [is] excommunication from the Roman Catholic Church pronounced upon heretics or gross sinners. The consequence [Ed. Note: according to the Roman Catholic Church] is eternal damnation unless the one anathematized repents and returns to the [Roman Catholic] Church. The Council of Trent pronounced the anathema more than 100 times upon those who accepted the beliefs of the Reformers; [the] Vatican II [Council] reconfirmed those anathemas, and added one of its own; and thus Roman Catholicism damns to eternal hell all evangelical Christians today))

“Anti-” (per Webster’s 1828 American Dictionary of the English Language): “A preposition signifying ‘against’, ‘opposite’, ‘contrary’, or ‘in place of’; used in many English words.”

((Ed. Comment: As you are reading this newsletter, please keep in mind this particular meaning “in the place of” for the prefix “anti-” as concerns the anti-Christ – one who sits “in the place of” Christ.))

“Antichrist” (per VINE’S Complete Expository Dictionary of Old and New Testament Words; 1985): “Antichrist [Greek: antichristos]can mean either ‘against Christ’ or ‘instead of Christ’, or perhaps, combining the two, ‘one who, assuming the guise of Christ, opposes Christ’

“Antichrist” (per Webster’s 1828 American Dictionary of the English Language): “A great adversary of Christ; the man of sin; described [in] I John 2:18; II Thessalonians [Chapter] 2; [and] Revelation [Chapter] 9.  Protestants generally suppose this adversary to be the Papal power; and some divines [i.e., clergymen] believe that, in a more general sense, the word extends to any persons who deny Christ or oppose the fundamental doctrines of Christianity.”

“Antichrist” (per Steve Wohlberg, author of the book End Time Delusions; 2004; Page 89): “The word ‘antichrist’ literally means ‘opposed to’ or ‘in the place of’ Christ, and in its most subtle and diabolical manifestation it concerns something which [Ed. Note: or someone who] claims loyalty to Jesus [Christ] while really leading away from Him.”

((Ed. Comment to the preceding three definitions: Leading Protestant Reformers (e.g., Martin Luther, John Calvin, John Knox, etc.) agreed that the Roman Pontiff [i.e., the pope of Rome] was clearly identified in Scripture as the Antichrist.))

“Black Pope” (per Darryl Eberhart, Editor of ETI): “An Italian nickname for the Jesuit Superior General: He is the commander-in-chief of the ‘Society of Jesus’ (i.e., the Jesuit Order). He is the real power ‘behind the throne’ of the Papacy; and he is also the master of all these: his Jesuit order, the Knights of Malta, and the highest levels of Freemasonry – and of all that he controls through them.”

“Catholic bashing” or “Anti-Catholic” (per Darryl Eberhart, Editor of ETI): “Two ‘labels’ that, for the most part, are applied, usually by Roman Catholics, to any and all who dare to point out any of the following:

(a.)  Errors in Roman Catholic doctrine;

(b.)   Papal Rome’s and the Jesuit Order’s well-documented history of fomenting and orchestrating bloody revolutions and wars;

(c.)  Papal Rome’s well-documented history (for centuries) of suppressing the possession of, and the study of, the Holy Bible by the common people in their own native language;

(d.)  Papal Rome’s well-documented history of torture, Inquisition, ‘holy’ wars, and ‘holy’ crusades against innocent Bible-believing Christians (such as the Albigenses and Waldenses);

(e.)  Papal Rome’s well-documented history of hating and brutally persecuting Jews, Protestants, and Orthodox Christians throughout the centuries, (e.g., the Vatican’s religious genocide in the 1940s against Serb Orthodox Christians in Fascist Croatia, where from 600,000 to 1 million men, women, elderly, and children were tortured and murdered by Roman Catholic Ustashi military units that were frequently led by Roman Catholic priests, friars, and monks);

(f.)   Papal Rome’s and the Jesuit Order’s well-documented history of planning and carrying out the assassination of heads of State (e.g., President Abraham Lincoln, King Henry III and King Henry IV of France, Czar Alexander I and Czar Alexander II of Russia, President Benito Pablo Juarez of Mexico, etc.);

(g.)  The well-documented history of Papal Rome’s support of totalitarian police states (such as Nazi Germany, Fascist Italy, and Fascist Croatia) during World War II;

(h.)  The tremendous wealth (banks, stock holdings, property, gold, etc.) of the Roman Catholic Church;

(i.)    The control of the top levels of Freemasonry by the Roman Catholic Jesuit Order; and,

(j.)   The heavy-duty infiltration (and control) of the top intelligence agencies in the world (e.g., CIA, Mossad, Russian KGB [now called the FSB & SVR], and British Intelligence) by the Jesuits (through their Knights of Malta, Jesuit ‘temporal coadjutors’, and high-level Freemasons).”

“Celibacy” (per Webster’s 1828 American Dictionary of the English Language): “An unmarried state; a single life.  It is most frequently if not always applied to males, or to a voluntary single life.”

((Ed. Comment to the preceding definition: Loraine Boettner, in Roman Catholicism (1962) on page 298, tells us: “By celibacyis meant the sectarian requirement of the Roman Catholic Church that its priests, monks, and nuns abstain from marriage.  It is not to be confused with the vow of chastity, which is also taken by the members of these groups, and which means abstention from sexual relations. According to Canon Law the vow of celibacy is broken if the priest marries, but not if he engages in sexual relations.”  Boettner then adds this comment: “The requirement for celibacyis entirely without Scriptural warrant, and was not generally enforced in the Roman [Catholic] Church until more than 1000 years after the time of Christ.”))

“Celibate” (per Webster’s 1828 American Dictionary of the English Language): “(Noun): A single life; celibacy; chiefly used when speaking of the single life of the Popish [i.e., Roman Catholic] clergy.”

“Chaste” (per Webster’s New World College Dictionary, Fourth Edition; 2006; adjective: first two meanings): “1. Not indulging in unlawful sexual activity; virtuous. 2. Sexually abstinent; celibate.”

“Chastity” (per Webster’s New World College Dictionary, Fourth Edition; 2006): “The quality or state of being chaste; specifically, a) virtuousness b) sexual abstinence; celibacy  c) decency or modesty  d) simplicity of style.”

According to Canon Law the vow of celibacy is broken if the priest marries, but not if he engages in sexual relations.”))

“Constantine” (per Webster’s New World Dictionary, Second College Edition; 1974; Meaning #2):Constantine I (Flavius Valerius Aurelius Constantinus) 280? -337 A.D.; emperor of Rome (306-337): converted to Christianity: called ‘the Great’.”

((Ed. Comment to the preceding definition: Many writers have questioned the “sincerity” of Constantine’s “conversion” to Christianity!  He remained at the head of the pagan priesthood as “Pontifex Maximus” after his supposed “conversion” to Christianity in 313 A.D., and it appears that he simply cut a political deal with the organized “Church” of his day. Author Dave Hunt, in his book A Woman Rides the Beast (1994), tells us on page 46: “While heading the Christian Church, [Roman Emperor] Constantine continued to head the pagan priesthood, to officiate at pagan celebrations, and to endow pagan temples even after he began to build Christian churches. As head of the pagan priesthood he was the ‘Pontifex Maximus’ and needed a similar title as head of the Christian Church. The Christians honored him as ‘Bishop of Bishops’, while Constantine called himself ‘Vicarius Christi’, [that is,] Vicar of Christ.”))

“Crime against humanity” (per Webster’s New World College Dictionary, Fourth Edition; 2006): “A mass killing or other atrocity committed in furtherance of a program of genocide.”

((Ed. Comment to the preceding definition: Papal Rome’s “crimes against humanity” (e.g., “holy” crusades, “holy” wars, and “holy” Inquisition) are so numerous that we might well describe them with the adjectival word “legion”.))

“Crusade” (per Webster’s New World Dictionary, Second College Edition; 1974; first two meanings): “1. Any of the military expeditions which Christians [Ed. Note: to be more precise, Roman Catholics] undertook from the end of the 11th [century] to the end of the 13th century to recover the Holy Land from the Moslems.  2. Any church-sanctioned war or expedition like this.”

((Ed Comment to the preceding definition: The Papacy launched “holy” crusades against Bible-believing Christian groups, such as the Albigenses in southern France, and the Waldenses in southeastern France and northwest Italy.))

“Donation of Constantine [a.k.a. the “Gift of Constantine”] (per 1955 World Scope Encyclopedia): The transfer of the ownership of the city of Rome and surrounding territory to the Pope by the Roman Emperor Constantine (272-337). The document which was once believed to prove this [alleged] historical fact was eventually unveiled as an early medieval falsification.”

“Donation of Constantine, The” [a.k.a. the “Gift of Constantine”] (per Dave Hunt, author of the book A Woman Rides the Beast; 1994; Pages 72, 73): “The popes’ authority even extended to large territories outside Rome acquired in the eighth century. At that time, with the help of a deliberately fraudulent document manufactured for the popes known as ‘The Donation of Constantine’, Pope Stephen III convinced Pepin, king of the Franks and father of Charlemagne, that territories recently taken by the Lombards from the Byzantines actually had been given to the papacy by the [Roman] Emperor Constantine.  [King] Pepin routed the Lombards and handed to the pope the keys to some 20 citiesand the huge chunk of land joining them along the Adriatic coast.

Dated 30 March 315 [A.D.] ‘The Donation [of Constantine]’ declared that [the Roman Emperor] Constantine had given these lands, along with Rome and the Lateran Palace, to the popes in perpetuity.  In 1440 this document was proven to be a forgery by [i.e., through the efforts of] Lorenzo Valla, a papal aide, and is so recognized by historians today.”

((Ed. Comment to the preceding two definitions: Lorenzo Valla (1405-1457), an Italian scholar, used both historical evidence and linguistics to prove in 1440 that the so-called “Donation of Constantine” was indeed a deliberately fraudulent document – a forgery used by the Papacy to steal the territory that became the Papal States.  According to Diarmaid MacCulloch, in his book The Reformation (2003), two other scholars, English bishop Reginald Pecock and the future German Cardinal Nicolas of Cusa, also came to the same conclusions as did Lorenzo Valla concerning the fraudulent nature of this document.))

“Ex cathedra” (per Webster’s New World Dictionary, Second College Edition; 1974): “[Modern Latin: Literally, ‘from the chair’]: With the authority that comes from one’s rank or office: often specifically with reference to papal announcements, on matters of faith or morals, that have authoritative finality.”

“Excommunicate” (per Webster’s New World College Dictionary, Fourth Edition; 2006): “[Transitive verb]: To exclude, by an act of ecclesiastical authority, from the sacraments, rights, and privileges of a church; censure by cutting off from communion with a church.” (See “Anathema”)

((Ed. Comments to the preceding definition:

(1) The Roman Catholic Church has been notorious throughout history for “excommunicating” many individuals (to include faithful and active Roman Catholics) who opposed her false and unbiblical doctrines and/or her corrupt and immoral practices – and then having such excommunicated individuals executed by the State authorities. An excellent example of such papal injustice was the excommunication (in 1497) and subsequent execution (in 1498) of the godly Dominican Girolamo Savonarola [1452-1498], who had led a revival in Florence, Italy. His great crime: he had exposed the corrupt and immoral papal court of Pope Alexander VI (pope: 1492-1503).

(2) For many Roman Catholics, the threat of “excommunication” is intimidating, because if they die while under a sentence of “excommunication”, then they (according to Roman Catholic Church doctrine) can never get to heaven.))

“Heretic” (per Darryl Eberhart, Editor of ETI): “As concerns historical Roman Catholic use of this term: A ‘label’ applied by the Papacy to anyone who dared in the past, or who dares today, to question either (1) papal authority, or (2) any of the unscriptural doctrines based solely upon ‘tradition’ that have been promulgated by the hierarchy of the Roman Catholic Church, such as ‘transubstantiation’, ‘indulgences’, ‘papal infallibility’, ‘purgatory’, ‘worship of images’, ‘a celibate priesthood’, ‘auricular confession to a priest’,  etc.”

((Ed. Comment to the preceding definitions of “heretic”: It is easy for corrupt church officials to “label” a group of Bible-believing Christians (even the population of an entire region or province) as “heretics”, and then to send armies to crush them and to loot their property! The hierarchy of the Roman Catholic Church, i.e., Papal Rome, labeled the Bible-believing Albigensian and Waldensian Christians as  “heretics” prior to sending armies to crush them!))

“Hierarchy” (per Webster’s New World Dictionary, Second College Edition; 1974):

(a.) “A system of church government by priests or other clergy in graded ranks

(b.) “The group of officials, especially the highest officials, in such a system”

(c.) “A group of persons or things arranged in order of rank, grade, class, etc.”

“Hypocrite” (per Webster’s 1828 American Dictionary of the English Language): “1. One who feigns to be what he is not; one who has the form of godliness without the power, or who assumes an appearance of piety and virtue, when he is destitute of true religion.  2. A dissembler; one who assumes a false appearance.”

“Infallible” (per Webster’s New World Dictionary, Second College Edition; 1974): “1. Incapable of error; never wrong.  2. Not liable to fail, go wrong, make a mistake, etc.; dependable; reliable; sure.  3. Roman Catholic Church: Incapable of error in setting forth doctrine on faith and morals: said especially of the Pope speaking ex cathedra (i.e., in his official capacity). (See “Ex cathedra”)

“Infallible” (per Webster’s 1828 American Dictionary of the English Language; Meaning #1): “Not fallible; not capable of erring; entirely exempt from liability to mistake; applied to persons. No man is infallible; to be infallible is the prerogative of God only.”

“Inquisition” (per Webster’s 1828 American Dictionary of the English Language): (Meaning #4): “In some [Roman] Catholic countries, a court or tribunal established for the examination and punishment of ‘heretics’.  This court was established in the 12th century by ‘father’ Dominic, who was charged by Pope Innocent III with orders to excite [Roman] Catholic princes [i.e., rulers] and people to extirpate [i.e., destroy completely] ‘heretics’.” (See “Heretic”)

“Jesuit Order” (per Darryl Eberhart, Editor of ETI): “The Jesuit Order is a religious order of the Roman Catholic Church, officially approved by Pope Paul III in 1540. The primary goals of this order are (1) to roll back the Protestant Reformation and the freedoms that it brought to many of the inhabitants of this planet; (2) to enhance the power and prestige of the Papacy; and (3) to rule despotically over the governments of the world through the Papacy.  The head of the Jesuit Order is the Jesuit Superior General – the ‘Black Pope’ – the real power behind the Papal throne. The Jesuit Order is infamous for fomenting revolutions and wars, assassinating heads of State, and subverting nations.”

“P2 (or P-2) Masonry” (per John Daniel, author of the book The Grand Design Exposed; 1999; Page 169): “There is a Masonic Propaganda group, number twoknown as the ‘P-2 Club’, with its headquarters being in Rome. The P-2 Club is a propaganda society of the world’s elite which includes high-ranking Roman Catholic prelates and, of course, Jesuits.”

((Ed. Comment to the preceding definition: P2 Masonry had its fingerprints all over the murder of Pope John Paul I, who was poisoned to death in 1978 before he could implement his plans to “clean house” at the Vatican and at the Vatican Bank. He had learned that many top-level Roman Catholic prelates were high-level Masons, and had made plans to remove them from power. If you doubt that Pope John Paul I was murdered, then I suggest that you read the book The Murder of John Paul I by Vance Ferrell. This book is $6.50 postpaid.  It provides very strong evidence that Pope John Paul I was murdered by his Masonic enemies inside the Vatican. To order a copy, please make check or money order payable to “Harvestime Books” and mail it to: Harvestime Books // P.O. Box 300 // Altamont, TN 37301.  To order by credit card, please call 1-931-692-2777.))

“Pagan” (per Webster’s 1828 American Dictionary of the English Language): “[Noun]: A heathen; a Gentile; an idolater; one who worships false gods

“Paganism” (per Webster’s 1828 American Dictionary of the English Language): “Heathenism; the worship of false gods, or the system of religious opinions and worship maintained by pagans.”

“Papacy” (per Webster’s New World Dictionary, Second College Edition; 1974): “1. The position, authority, or rank of the Pope.  2. The period of time during which a pope rules.  3. The succession of popes; popes collectively. 4. The government of the Roman Catholic Church, headed by the Pope.”

“Papal” (per Webster’s New World Dictionary, Second College Edition; 1974): “1. Of the Pope or the papacy. 2. Of the Roman Catholic Church.”

“Papal Rome” (per Darryl Eberhart, Editor of ETI): “The government of the Roman Catholic Church, whose headquarters is presently in Rome, Italy.”

“Papal States” (per Webster’s New World Dictionary, Second College Edition; 1974): “Former territory in Central and North Central Italy, ruled by the papacy from the 8th century until 1870.”

“Pontifex Maximus” (per Darryl Eberhart, Editor of ETI): “[Latin for ‘Supreme Pontiff’]: A title of the supreme leader of the pagan priesthood in the Babylonian Empire and in pagan IMPERIAL ROME; and a title of the supreme leader of the Roman Catholic priesthood of PAPAL ROME.”

((Ed. Comment to the preceding definition: Author I.A. Sadler, in his book Mystery, Babylon the Great (2003), tells us on page 27: “The Babylonish monarch is also known in history by the Latin title ‘Pontifex Maximus’, which is rendered in English either ‘Supreme [Pontiff]’ or ‘Sovereign Pontiff’. The word ‘Pontiff’ comes from the Latin ‘Pontifex’, which means ‘Roman high priest’.”))

“Pope” (per Webster’s New World Dictionary, Second College Edition; 1974; Meaning #1): “Roman Catholic Church: The bishop of Rome and head of the [Roman Catholic] Church.”

“Prelate” (per Darryl Eberhart, Editor of ETI): “A high-ranking clergyman, e.g., a bishop.”

“Roman Catholic” (per Webster’s 1828 American Dictionary of the English Language): “Roman Catholic, as an adjective, denoting the religion professed by the people of Rome and of Italy, at the head of which is the pope or Bishop of Rome; as a noun, one who adheres to the papal religion.”

“Vatican” (per Webster’s New World Dictionary, Second College Edition; 1974): “1. The papal palace, consisting of a group of buildings in Vatican City.  2. The papal government or authority.”

“Vatican City” (per Webster’s New World Dictionary, Second College Edition; 1974): “Independent papal state, constituted in 1929 as an enclave in Rome

“Vatican-Papacy-Jesuit-Knights of Malta cabal” (per Darryl Eberhart, Editor of ETI): “This is a term I use to describe the most powerful geopolitical-financial-religious institution in the world, which is governed by the Jesuit-controlled hierarchy of the Roman Catholic Church. This institution includes (1) the Vatican-Papacy, (2) the Jesuit Order, (3) the Jesuit-controlled Knights of Malta religious-military order, (4) other religious and religious-military orders (such as the Knights of Columbus), (5) Jesuit ‘temporal coadjutors’, (6) the ‘Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith’ (i.e., the Inquisition), (7) the highest levels of Freemasonry (which are controlled by the Superior General of the Jesuit Order), (8) the Vatican Bank, (9) the numerous financial, corporate, real estate, and stock holdings of Papal Rome, and (10) a large priesthood with a tremendous intelligence-gathering mechanism called the ‘confessional’.  This cabal is by far the biggest and most powerful ‘player’ on the New World Order (N.W.O.) ‘chessboard’, and is the biggest promoter of one-world government and one-world religion – both of which are to be under the authority of the Jesuit-controlled Papacy!  This cabal has a long ‘track record’ of torture and genocide; and it is infamous for (1) fomenting bloody revolutions and wars (to include two world wars), (2) assassinating heads of State, and (3) subverting nations. It hates religious liberty, freedom of speech and press, and popular, representative government; and it loves Fascism and ecclesiastical tyranny.  This cabal hates the American Constitutional Republic, and made plans for its destruction in three meetings in the 19th century (at Vienna, Austria in 1814-15; at Verona, Italy in 1822; and at Chieri, Italy in 1825).”

“Vicar” (per Webster’s New World Dictionary, Second College Edition; 1974): [Ed. Note: “vicar” with a “small ‘v’”]: “1. A person who acts in place of another; deputy. 4. Roman Catholic Church: A.) A church officer acting as deputy of a bishop. B.) [Vicar]: The Pope, regarded as earthly representative of Christ: in full: Vicar of (Jesus) Christ.”

“Vicar of Christ” (per Darryl Eberhart, Editor of ETI): Just one of many titles assumed by the popes of Rome.  The pope of Rome is “claiming”, by the use of this title, to act in the place of Jesus Christ on planet Earth. Webster’s 1828 American Dictionary of the English Language tells us the following concerning the word vicar: “The pope pretends to be vicar of Jesus Christ on earth.  He has under him a grand vicar, who is a cardinal, and whose jurisdiction extends over all priests, regular and secular.”

IMPORTANT NOTE:  I (the editor of the ETI & TTT newsletters) am not a Roman Catholic; I also am most definitely not anti-Roman Catholic as far as individual Roman Catholics go.  My dad and 90% of my relatives are Roman Catholic; and the majority of my friends are Roman Catholic.  I am, however, against the top levels of secret societies (from the hierarchy of the Jesuit Order to the hierarchy of Freemasonry).  This is because these secret societies control the leadership of the Roman Catholic Church (through the Jesuit Order and P2 Masonry), and have often used this hierarchical system for evil purposes, such as “holy” Inquisition, “holy” crusades, “holy” wars, and religious genocide. The hierarchical system of the Roman Catholic Church is used quite efficiently by secret societies not only to keep over one billion Roman Catholics “in line”, but also to gather intelligence, and to infiltrate (through its Knights of Malta, Jesuit “temporal coadjutors”, etc.) governments and various Christian denominations. I am also against any religious hierarchy that tries to place itself equal to, or above, the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God – or equal to, or above, God’s Holy Word (i.e., the Holy Bible) and His Ten Commandments!

Why Am I Writing More & More About Roman Catholicism?

This editor of the ETI and TTT newsletters has been writing more on the Roman Catholic Church’s hierarchy, and especially the Jesuit Order, in recent newsletters because I keep uncovering more and more about the deep hatred that the hierarchy of the Roman Catholic Church has for independent Bible-believing Christians, Protestants, Orthodox Christians, and Jews.  We Americans have, for the most part, been largely ignorant of the well-documented history of the Roman Catholic Church in conducting brutal religious genocide (via Inquisition, “holy” wars, and “holy” crusades) against all the afore-mentioned groups. Sadly, many Americans believe the “ecumenical rhetoric” of Roman Catholic prelates – i.e., that the Roman Catholic Church has “changed her ways” and now loves all the “separated brethren”.  However, my study of the Papacy shows me that this is just a RUSE [i.e., a “stratagem” – per Webster’s Dictionary: “any trick or scheme for achieving some purpose].  The “purpose” is to bring all Christian denominations under the “umbrella” [i.e., the control] of the Papacy!

Yes, the Papacy [i.e., Papal Rome], despite its “ecumenical rhetoric”, has not changed a bit over the many centuries in the following categories:

Power – absolute power – has long been the pursuit of Papal Rome.  History has recorded Papal Rome’s deep hatred for religious liberty and freedom of conscience. The U.S. Constitution, with its “Bill of Rights” guaranteeing such liberties, has long been hated by Papal Rome. (For a good example of this hatred, please read the Syllabus of Errors issued in 1864 by Pope Pius IX.)  I have heard that there is an acronym in use by some Knights of Columbus in America. This acronym is “M.A.C.”: Make America Catholic”. America is the last “roadblock” in the way of Papal Rome and her globalist rich and power elite lackeys in their quest for one-world government and one-world religion. Is America scheduled for a religious genocide – an Inquisition – as occurred in the 1940s in Croatia?  I believe the danger is very real and possibly quite imminent – and that is why I have been writing more and more about the Roman Catholic Church’s hierarchy (i.e., Papal Rome), its long-held dreams of world domination, its love of Fascist regimes, and its well-documented history of torture and religious genocide!

HERE ARE SOME RELEVANT QUOTATIONS:

“It is beyond question that he [i.e., the pope] can err even in matters touching the faith.  He does this when he teaches heresy by his own judgment or decretal.  In truth, MANY Roman pontiffs [i.e., popes] were heretics.” (1523)

Pope Adrian VI (Adrian Florensz Dedal; born-died: 1459-1523; pope: 1522-1523; also seen in some books as Pope Hadrian VI)

“Popes had mistresses of fifteen years of age, were guilty of incest and sexual perversions of every sort, had innumerable children, [and] were murdered in the very act of adultery – Peter de Rosa (Roman Catholic historian & former Jesuit; author; Vicars of Christ – The Dark Side of the Papacy)

“And they [i.e., the popes of Rome] were some of the worst scoundrels, miscreants, and murderers who ever cursed the world with their presence.”

Ronald Cooke (The Death of the Pope of Rome; 2005; Page 7)

“How has the papacy conducted itself in the past?  It would require many volumes to recount the crimes, sins, cruelties, debaucheries, immoralities, perversions, errors, and blasphemies of the Papal See.”

Ronald Cooke (The Death of the Pope of Rome; 2005; Page 9)

“When one looks at the lives of the popes of Rome he sees a ghastly array of egregious evils, heinous crimes, and glaring sins which cannot be matched by any other group of men in the annals of history. Other men and other organizations have committed great atrocities and evils, but never on such a wide scale, or for such a long time, as the Popes of Rome.

The evils of the Popes are compounded by the fact that while committing all the evils, atrocities, massacres, inquisitions, immoralities, and teaching all the false doctrines of Rome, ALL THESE DEMONIC MONSTERS CLAIMED AT THE SAME TIME TO BE THE VICAR OF CHRIST ON EARTH. ((Ed. Note: Emphasis is in the original.))  Roman Catholic scholars, such as Malachi Martin, one of the leading Roman Catholic scholars of the 20th century, describe in great detail the evils of the Roman Catholic papacy.  So if people today do not know of such evils, it is not because they never happened or have not been publicized, it is because people are willfully IGNORANT of them.” ((Ed. Note: Emphasis is in the original except for “willfully”.))

Ronald Cooke (The Death of the Pope of Rome; 2005; Page 5)

“As for abominations, even [Roman] Catholic historians admit that among the popes were some of the most degenerate and unconscionable ogres in all history. Their numerous outrageous crimes, many of which are almost beyond belief, have been recited by many historians from preserved documents that reveal the depths of papal depravity…

Dave Hunt (A Woman Rides the Beast; 1994; Page 78)

“The popes filled the place of the vacant emperors at Rome, inheriting their power, prestige, and titles [Ed. Note: such as Pontifex Maximus] from paganism.  [Roman Emperor] Constantine [Ed. Note: according to the admittedly FORGED “Donation of Constantine”] left all to the Bishop of Rome [i.e., the Pope].  The Papacy is but the GHOST of the deceased [Pagan] Roman Empire sitting crowned upon its grave.” – Stanley’s History (Page 40)

“While heading the Christian church, [Roman Emperor] Constantine continued to head the pagan priesthood, to officiate at pagan festivities, and to endow pagan temples even after he began to build Christian churches.  As ‘head of the pagan priesthood’ he was the ‘Pontifex Maximus’ and needed a similar title as head of the Christian church.  The Christians honored him as ‘Bishop of Bishops’, while Constantine called himself ‘Vicarius Christi’, (Vicar of Christ).

In the Middle Ages, the bishops of Rome began to claim that they were the ‘sole representatives of Christ upon earth’.  Demanding that the entire church worldwide must be subject to their rule, they forbade any other bishops to be called ‘papa’ or pope and took to themselves the three titles of [Roman Emperor] Constantine – ‘Pontifex Maximus’, ‘Vicar of Christ’, and ‘Bishop of Bishops’ – which they retain to this day.”

Dave Hunt (A Woman Rides the Beast; 1994; Page 46)

“The high point of Marozia’s (who was little more than a papal prostitute) career came at the end of her very long life when she was visited in her Roman prison by an emperor who had just seized possession of the city – Otto III – successor of [Emperor] Charlemagne. He had only one reason for visiting Marozia – to lay eyes on the woman who was the mother of a pope, whom she had conceived by another pope, and who was the aunt of a third pope, the grandmother of a fourth pope, and with the help of her own mother, the creator of nine popes in eight years, of whom two had been strangled, one suffocated with a cushion, and four deposed of in circumstances that have not come to public light.” – Malachi Martin (Author; Roman Catholic scholar; Jesuit; confidant of popes; The Decline and Fall of the Roman Church; 1981; Page 99)

“Popes during the Middle Ages were not in any sense men who had inclinations to set examples for morality.  First and foremost, they all came from enormously wealthy backgrounds; aristocratic warlords determined through the most disgusting corruptions, bribery, and bloodshed, to have that ultra coveted position.

To be pope was to gain absolute power and wealth beyond the scope of any other means.  Extravagant luxuries, pomp, and excesses, even surpassing that of the emperor’s table, excited the lust and passions of these aristocratic families to a fever pitch.  Vast riches were paid to rivaling parties to buy them out or to cast a favorable vote. Unsuccessful attempts usually led to assassinations.  Orgies, incest, homosexuals, mistresses, rape, murder, plunder, in some of the most shameful scandals known to man, are all recorded as the every-day rottenest lifestyle of these so-called ‘saintly’ religious rulers.  Rome was virtually a moral cesspool of corruption; proving graphically that absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Regardless of the opinions of sanctimonious [Roman Catholic] apologetics, this is the ‘red, raw meat’ of papal history” – Peter De Rosa

“The most ghastly abomination of all was the system of torture. The accounts of its cold-blooded operations make one shutter at the capacity of human beings for cruelty.  And it was decreed and regulated by the popes who ‘claim’ to represent Christ on earth – William Shaw Kerr (Church historian)

“It is a horrible thing to behold the man who styles himself Christ’s vicegerent, displaying a magnificence that no emperor can equal.  Is this being like the poor [Lord] Jesus or the humble [Apostle] Peter?  He [i.e., the Pope] is, say they, the lord of the world!  But Christ, whose vicar he boasts of being, said, ‘My kingdom is not of this world.’  Can the dominions of a vicar extend beyond those of his superior?” – Martin Luther (1483-1546; German Reformer)

((Ed. Comment to the preceding quote: The gold, silver, precious stones, and other monetary and property wealth (to include banking interests) of Papal Rome are so immense that they probably cannot be properly estimated by anyone who does not have direct access to their financial records.))

“We still have documents of Byzantine ambassadors reporting on the four questions ritually put to every priest about to be consecrated as a bishop of the Roman Church: ‘Have you sodomized a boy?  Have you fornicated with a nun?  Have you sodomized any four-legged animal?  Have you committed adultery?’  These questions accurately reflected the standard required of would-be bishops.  St. Peter Damian wrote a famous book, the ‘Liber Gomorrhianus’ (book of Gomorrha), graphically describing the veniality, lechery, bestiality, and homicidal fecklessness of his fellow Roman clerics.”

Malachi Martin (Author; Roman Catholic scholar; Jesuit; confidant of popes; The Decline and Fall of the Roman Church; 1981; Page 109)

“It was bitterly cold. King Henry [IV of Germany] stood barefoot, shivering in the snow, nearly freezing to death.  Together with his wife and baby son, they had crossed the Alps in the dead of winter, just so he could stand here [i.e., at the pope’s palace] today, begging forgiveness.

This was no mean [i.e., poor] man. This was Henry IV, the King of Germany [1056-1106] and [the] ‘Holy Roman Emperor’ (1084-1106 AD) [Ed. One source: 1105]. So what could have caused him to do such a crazy thing?

That’s easy.  He had dared to question the authority of the pope!  And now Pope Gregory VII showed [King] Henry who [really] held the reins of power in Europe. In 1076 he [i.e., Pope Gregory VII] excommunicated [King] Henry from the Roman Catholic religion and told his German subjects they didn’t have to serve him anymore.  That’s why he [King Henry IV of Germany] stood there, freezing and humiliated in the snow for three days.  He had to prove that he had learned his lesson.  He had learned the hard way who was the real boss in world affairs: the Roman Catholic pope.

The new pope, Benedict XVI, was recently in Germany for World Youth Day 2005. He urged Europe to return to its ‘Christian roots’.  What does that mean? It means a time when kings lived in fear of the pope. This new Roman Catholic leader was formerly the Chief Inquisitor, head of the ‘Holy Office’ of the Inquisition.  Is it any coincidence that this German pope is still referred to by his colleagues as ‘Der Panzerkardinal’?  Get ready, folks, and hang onto your Bibles. What this new pope really wants is a 21st century version of the Dark Ages.” – David W. Daniels (Author of Did The Catholic Church Give Us The Bible?) (Preceding quotation is a large excerpt from his article “A Return to Our Christian Roots?” from the Sept./Oct. 2005 issue of the “Battle Cry” newsletter.)

((Ed. Comment to the preceding quote: For much of the past four centuries (and with few and rare exceptions), the Jesuit Superior General (i.e., the Black Pope) has controlled and directed the White Pope, the Papacy, and the Roman Curia.))

[The Albigensian Christians] preached against the immoralities of the [Roman Catholic] priesthood, pilgrimages, worship of saints and idolsopposed the claims of the Church of Rome; made great use of the Scriptures.

By 1167 they [i.e., the Albigensian Christians] embraced possibly a majority of the population of South France.

In 1208 a crusade was ordered by Pope Innocent III; a bloody war of extermination followed, scarcely paralleled in history. Town after town was put to the sword, and the inhabitants murdered without distinction of age or sex.

Within a hundred years the Albigenses were utterly rooted out.”

Dr. Henry H. Halley (Halley’s Bible Handbook)

“Every cleric must obey the Pope, even if he commands what is evil; for no one may judge the Pope.”Pope Innocent III (Lotario; born-died: c.1161-1216; pope: 1198-1216) ((Ed. Comment: GOD will judge the pope!))

“The unrestrained freedom of thinking and of openly making known one’s thoughts is not inherent in the rights of citizens and is by no means worthy of favor and support.”Pope Gregory XVI (Bartolomeo Alberto Cappellari; born-died: 1765-1846; pope: 1831-1846)

“The absurd and erroneous doctrines or ravings in defense of liberty of conscience, are a most pestilential error – a pest, of all others, most to be dreaded in a State.”Pope Pius IX (Giovanni Maria Mastai-Ferretti; born-died: 1792-1878; pope: 1846-1878) (Encyclical Letter; August 15, 1854)

“The State has not the right to leave every man free to embrace whatever religion he should deem true.

The [Roman Catholic] Church has the right to require that the [Roman] Catholic religion shall be the religion of the State, to the exclusion of all others.

Cursed be those who assert liberty of conscience and of worship and such that maintain that the [Roman Catholic] Church may not employ force.”

The Syllabus Errorum of Pope Pius IX (December 1864)

“These false and perverse opinions [of democracy and individual freedom] are so much the more detestable, by as much as theyhinder and banish that salutary influence which the [Roman] Catholic Church, by the institution and command of her Divine Author, ought freely to exercise, even to the consummation of the world, not only over individual men, but [over] nations, [over] peoples, and [over] sovereigns.”Pope Pius IX (Quanta Cura; December 8, 1864) (A Woman Rides the Beast by Dave Hunt; Page 120.)

((Ed. Comment to the preceding quote: Papal Rome has long reserved to herself the “right” to enslave nations under vile ecclesiastical tyranny, and to use force and torture wherever and whenever she deems such measures “necessary”. Her numerous official statements claim her absolute “right” to do so, and history has recorded the results: numerous instances of “holy” Inquisition, “holy” crusades, and brutal religious genocide carried out by this religious-political-financial institution upon millions and millions of innocent men, women, and children!))

“Have not the popes [e.g., Pope Pius IX in his Syllabus of Errors] publicly and repeatedly anathematized the sacred principle of Liberty of Conscience?  Have they not boldly said, in the teeth of the nations of Europe, that Liberty of Conscience must be destroyed – killed at any cost?  Has not the whole world heard the sentence of death to liberty coming from the lips of the old man of the Vatican [i.e., the pope]?” – Charles Chiniquy (Author; Ex-Catholic priest)

“It was the Pope of Rome [i.e., Pope Pius IX], and he alone, of all the European potentates, that gave his recognition and his blessing to the Confederate government – Thomas M. Harris (U.S. Army Brigadier General; Rome’s Responsibility for the Assassination of Abraham Lincoln; 1897; Page 16)

“As with any ‘pyramidal’ scheme, whether it is in marketing, Freemasonry, the Jesuits, or the Roman Catholic Church; it is a hierarchy.  Those at the top level of the ‘pyramid’ leech off the efforts and revenues of the hundreds of thousands [Ed. Note: or, millions] under them at the lower levels.  Nor is it intended for those while at the bottom to ever know the purposes and affairs of those at the top.  The lower levels are intentionally lied to and deceived, so as to make them to ‘think’ that they know.

At the bottom of the [Roman Catholic Church’s hierarchical] pyramid they are taught Christ; at the top, it’s an occult different matter.”

John Daniel (The Grand Design Exposed; 1999; Page 158)

“The Canon Law, among other things, declares that the Pope is the lord of all kings, and all people; that the [Roman Catholic] Church can use force in carrying out her discipline; that her clergy are exempt from the civil tribunals of the land; that all laws contrary to Canon Law are void; that all education must be under the control of the Bishops; that the Pope can depose ‘heretical’ sovereigns; that he can release from oaths and prisons; that the priests have power to direct the people in their political duties; and that ‘heresy’ is to be punished with death.” – Hector Macpherson (The Jesuits in History; Page 116)

((Ed. Comment to the preceding quote: Such power should never be in the hands of any man or small group of men. Papal Rome’s use of “force” in the past has included: “holy” Inquisition (including brutal torture); “holy” crusades and wars against innocent men, women, and children who would not bow to papal authority; fomenting of revolutions and wars; and assassination of heads of State. Papal Rome has often misused the label of “heretic”, applying it to those who opposed her false doctrines and papal corruption – or who simply wanted to possess a Bible in their native language. Papal Rome has labeled entire population groups (e.g., Albigensian Christians, Waldensian Christians, etc.) as “heretics” in order to slaughter them and confiscate (i.e., loot) their property – and to remove any challenge to her claimed authority to rule over all people.))

“And of all plagues with which mankind are cursed,

            Ecclesiastic tyranny is the worst.”

            Daniel DeFoe (1660-1731; English writer)

[The Pope is] the very antichrist, and ‘son of perdition’, of whom [the Apostle] Paul speaks.” – John Knox (1505-1572; Scottish Reformer)

“The oracles of God foretold the rising of an Antichrist in the Christian Church: and in the Pope of Rome all the characteristics of that Antichrist are so marvelously answered that if any who read the Scriptures do not see it, there is a marvelous blindness upon them.”

Cotton Mather (1663-1728; American clergyman)

“The [Holy] Bible is not for the people; whosoever will be saved must renounce it. It is a forbidden book. Bible societies are satanic contrivances.”

Pope Pius IV (Giovanni Angelo Medici; born-died: 1499-1565; pope: 1559-1565)

((Ed. Comment to the preceding quote: Papal Rome for centuries forbade the common man to read the Holy Bible in his own native language. Papal Rome hunted down and executed many individuals for the “crime” of printing, distributing, or even possessing a Bible in their own native language.))

“Now we hope that none of you will be slain, but we wish you to know that the Kingdom of Heaven will be given as a reward to those who shall be killed in this war.”Pope Leo IV (pope: 847-855)

“We confidently reply that those who shall die in battle fighting bravely against pagans or unbelievers shall receive eternal life.”

Pope John VIII (pope: 872-882; poisoned and then clubbed to death by members of his entourage in 882 A.D.)

((Ed. Comments to the preceding two quotes:

(1) GOD alone decides who will receive “eternal life”.  No pope or other man on planet Earth can promise “eternal life” to anyone for deeds done on behalf of a religious institution!

(2) False promises of “eternal life”, forgiveness of sins, early release from purgatory, etc., were used by popes to get violent criminals (e.g., rapists and murderers) and thugs to “sign up” for “crusades” to savagely slaughter and butcher innocent Moslems, Jews, and even Bible-believing Christians (such as the Albigenses in southern France and the Waldenses in southeastern France and northwestern Italy)!

(3) The “formula” for “eternal life” is clearly spelled out in the Holy Bible. This editor most highly recommends that you take no man’s word for what specifically constitutes “salvation” and “eternal life”, but rather “search the Scriptures” in both the Old Testament and the New Testament. In other words, study the entire Bible from cover to cover, asking God the Father to show you, in Christ Jesus’ name, what you must do to inherit eternal life, and what you must not do that would keep you from entering into the kingdom of God.

(4) Speaking of “the Kingdom of Heaven”:  If you have not seen Ridley Scott’s film “Kingdom of Heaven” (2005) that deals with that period of history when “Christian” [i.e., Roman Catholic] crusaders held Jerusalem, I highly recommend that you view it.  This movie clearly shows the “ugly side” of organized religion (especially the hierarchical variety) – and its role in inciting “holy war”.))

((Ed. Comment: Speaking of movies, “King Arthur – Director’s Cut” (2004) by Jerry Bruckheimer, shows the “ugly side” of organized hierarchical religion.  This movie shows the use of torture by Papal Rome on poor peasants. Papal Rome for centuries tortured women and children, as well as men and the elderly.))

I. INTERESTING REVELATIONS ABOUT CERTAIN POPES (Using quotes by various authors with a few editorial comments)

((Ed. Note: I will attempt to list these popes as they appeared chronologically in history. A fair number of the below-listed quotes came from Ronald Cooke’s book The Death of the Pope of Rome.))

“At the election of Pope Damascus I [Ed. Note: pope: 366-384 A.D.], in AD 366, thirty-seven corpses littered the Liberian Basilica after a fracas between the followers of Damascus and his archrival Ursinus.”

Malachi Martin (Author; Roman Catholic scholar; Jesuit; confidant of popes; The Decline and Fall of the Roman Church; 1981; Page 43)

((Ed. Comment to the preceding quote: This is not an unusual case. The aristocratic families that were battling for the office of pope frequently committed murder in order to eliminate their rivals and to secure the office of pope!))

“Within a year Pope Stephen [pope: 768-772 A.D.] will have used Duke Desiderius to get Christophorus, Sergius, and Gratiosus imprisoned, first their eyes cut out, and then their lives ended.  He will then turn on Desiderius, and by December of AD 771 will encompass his ruin and death.”

Malachi Martin (The Decline and Fall of the Roman Church; 1981; P. 70)

“For Marozia [Ed. Note: the famous papal prostitute], the reading of Pope John XII’s [pope: 955-964 A.D.] sins must have provided a paroxysm [i.e., a sudden convulsion or outburst] of personal suffering.  Every word is accurate.  ‘Your grandson, Pope John XII, perjured himself  He stole the treasury of the popes  He was deposed by a Holy Synod and replaced by Pope Leo VIII  Then the apostate returned to Rome; evicted Pope Leo VIII; cut off the nose, tongue, and two fingers of the Cardinal Deacon; flayed the skin of Bishop Otger; cut off the hands of Notary Azzo; and beheaded sixty-three of Rome’s clergy and nobility  During the night of May 14, 964, while having illicit and filthy relations with a Roman matron, he was surprised in the act of sin by the matron’s angry husband who, in just wrath, smashed his skull with a hammer, and thus liberated his evil soul into the grasp of Satan.’” – Malachi Martin (The Decline and Fall of the Roman Church; 1981; Pages 101, 102)

When Pope John XIX died under suspicious circumstances, which usually means he was murdered, in 1033 [Ed. Note: one source: 1032], his relative took his son of 12, had papal clothes made for him and lifted him bodily onto the papal throne and had him consecrated pope as Benedict IX.  [Pope] Benedict [IX] sold the papal throne to Gratian, who became Pope Gregory VI.  Benedict continued to live in the Lateran Palace, [which according to Malachi] Martin, ‘he converted into the best brothel in town’.”

Ronald Cooke (The Death of the Pope of Rome; 2005; Pages 10, 11)

In the eleventh century, the Man of Sin appeared to have attained the summit of arrogance and blasphemy in the person of [Pope] Gregory VII.  He [i.e., Pope Gregory VII] assumed not only the appellation of ‘Universal Bishop’, but also those of ‘Sovereign Pontiff’, ‘Christ’s Vicar’, ‘Prince of the Apostles’, ‘God on earth’, ‘Lord God the Pope’, ‘His Holiness’, ‘King of kings and Lord of lords’, ‘Prince over all nations and kingdoms’, ‘The Most Holy and Most Blessed’, ‘Master of the Universal World’, ‘Father of Kings’, ‘Light of the World’, ‘Most High and Sovereign Bishop’, etc., etc.”

David Benedict (General History of the Baptist Denomination)

[Pope] Boniface VIII… [pope: 1294-1303]: This evil deceiver started his rule in the papal chair by ‘pretending to be God’. ((Ed. Note: He obtained the papal office by pulling off a clever trick as explained in this next sentence.)) He whispered through a hidden tube to the ruling pope Celestine and commanded him to lay down his [papal] office. Celestine thought he was hearing the [very] voice of God, and responded to the command by laying down his office. He [Celestine] was immediately locked up in prison and starved to death by [Pope] Boniface [VIII], who became both pope and emperor.

The [new] Pope then fought with the powerful Colonna family, which led him to destroy the city of Palestrina, where he killed 6000 citizens in a bloody massacre.  He also issued his famous papal bull – Unam Sanctum [sic] – in which he claimed that the Pope of Rome was ruler over both spiritual and temporal powers, which enabled him to wear the ‘triple tiara’ signifying such powers, and which all popes ever since have worn, including the late pope. [This means that] he claimed absolute authority over all matters terrestrial and celestial.

[Pope] Boniface VIII robbed and plundered everywhere he could while carrying on immoral affairs with his mistress and her daughter.  Philip le Bel of France was able to seize him and imprison him in 1303.  However, he was later liberated by an armed insurrection and returned to Rome.  He became insane and was placed in solitary confinement where he died.”

Ronald Cooke (The Death of the Pope of Rome; 2005; Pages 11, 12)

[Pope] John XXII [pope: 1316-1334]:  This pope was another worthless character who took over the papal chair after poisoning Pope Alexander V.  Being [at that time] a cardinal, he [i.e., John XXII] had access to the pope [Alexander V], and to get the papal chair he poisoned the pope who occupied it.

He [Pope John XXII] called for an army to go against Ladislaus, king of Naples, because he had driven him [the pope] out of Rome.  He also struggled with the General Council he had called to meet at Constance.  Sixty charges were laid against him at this council and he was deposed.

The number of charges [against Pope John XXII] were reduced from 60 to 5: lust, murder, rape, sodomy, and piracy.  He was found guilty and deposed.”

Ronald Cooke  (The Death of the Pope of Rome; 2005; Page 12)

((Ed. Note: This phenomenon, i.e., the murder of the then current pope by his future successor (in order to “seize” the coveted papal chair), seems to have occurred frequently during Roman Catholic Church history.))

[Pope] Alexander VI ([born-died:] 1431-1503; [pope: 1492-1503]): This very evil pope committed his first murder at the age of twelve and fathered at least ten illegitimate children.

He bought the papal chair by giving various Cardinals all kinds of expensive gifts so they would vote for him.  He became pope in 1492 and took the title Alexander VI.

He was the pope who had [the Dominican] Savonarola, the preacher who cried out publicly against the crimes and sins of the papacy, executed [in 1498].”

Ronald Cooke (The Death of the Pope of Rome; 2005; Pages 12, 13)

((Ed. Comments to the preceding quote:

(1) Many men bought the papacy.  Many men also murdered their competitors or the reigning pope in order to obtain the coveted papal chair (with all its perks, privileges, power, and wealth)!

(2) The Dominican Savonarola, a godly Roman Catholic who was also a preacher of reform, led a “revival” in the Italian city of Florence. Because this godly Roman Catholic had the courage to criticize and denounce Pope Alexander VI and his corrupt papal court, he was murdered in 1498 on the orders of his own Church (the execution was carried out shortly after his excommunication, and after threats had been made against the people of Florence).  Sadly, Savonarola was not the only godly Roman Catholic murdered by his own Church throughout history for the “crime” of trying to reform a very corrupt church hierarchy!))

“When Pius IX [pope: 1846-1878] (who had rammed papal infallibility through Vatican [Council] I) died [on February 8, 1878] and his casket was carried with great pomp through the streets and up to St. Peter’s, mobs of Italians filled the square, throwing stones and shouting: ‘Death to the Pope!  Death to the priests!  Throw the pig in the river!  Throw the beast in the Tiber [River]!’”

Dave Hunt (A Woman Rides the Beast; 1994; Page 498)

“In Hitler’s Pope, award-winning [Roman Catholic] journalist John Cornwell shows that Eugenio Pacelli, Pope Pius XII [pope: 1939-1958], was instrumental in negotiating an accord that helped the Nazis rise to unhindered power – and sealed the fate of the Jews in Europe.

Drawing upon secret Vatican and Jesuit archives to which he had unprecedented access, Cornwell tells the full, tragic story of how narcissism, long-standing personal antipathy for the Jews, and political and ‘spiritual’ ambition combined to make Pius the most dangerous churchman in history.  Not just a firm and final indictment of Pius XII’s papacy, Hitler’s Pope is also a searing exploration of its lingering consequences for the Catholic Church today.”

(This quote was taken from the back cover of the book Hitler’s Pope: The Secret History of Pius XII by Roman Catholic journalist John Cornwell.)

[John Cornwell’s book] Hitler’s Pope reads like a thriller as it takes us through the high-powered negotiations and international crises from an unusual perspective  Given the campaign to beatify Pius XII [pope: 1939-1958], this meticulous, persuasive and impassioned book is disturbing in its presentation of a profoundly flawed man obsessed with absolute papal authority no matter what the consequences for others.”Detroit Free Press

“As [author John] Cornwell brilliantly demonstrates [in his book Hitler’s Pope], Pius XII [pope: 1939-1958] brought the authoritarianism and the centralization of his predecessors to their most extreme stageNowadays we may not know what a saint should be, but we do know what a saint should not be – a man of narrow spirit and heart, a man who could not find at the very least a ‘candid word’ when millions of human beings from all corners of Europe, some of them from under his own windows, were led to their systematic extermination.”

Saul Friedlander (Writer, Los Angeles Times)

((Ed. Note: John Cornwell’s excellent book Hitler’s Pope is currently out of print.  Check the Internet for the availability of used or new copies of this book.))

“It is important to remember that the man [i.e., Pope John Paul I; pope: Aug. 26-Sept. 28, 1978], who was pope before Pope John Paul II, was probably murdered.  Yallup in his book In God’s Name puts forth a very good case for murder.  ((Ed. Note: And so does Vance Ferrell in his book The Murder of John Paul I.))  It is also interesting to note that the newspapers in Italy and Spain had headlines claiming that Pope [John Paul I] was murdered.  But in the United States no newspaper reported anything about the suspicious nature of that pope’s death.  The history of the papacy certainly shows that time and time again a pope was murdered so that another man could claim the papal throne. And this suspicion of murder haunts the papal chair even to this day.”

Ronald Cooke (The Death of the Pope of Rome; 2005; Page 14)

((Ed. Comments to the preceding quote:

(1) Pope John Paul I was poisoned to death in 1978. (Please read Vance Ferrell’s book The Murder of John Paul I.)  Pope John Paul I was getting ready to “clean house” at the Vatican (i.e., he was making plans to remove all the high-level P2 Masons from positions of power within the Vatican).  He had earlier seen (in an Italian newspaper) a list of high-level Masons holding top positions in the Roman Catholic Church’s hierarchy in Rome. Many of these men were Cardinals and other high-level prelates in the Roman Curia – and these men were P2 Masons!  Pope John Paul I did not get the chance to implement his plans, because he was murdered within 24 hours of presenting his list of transfers to P2 Mason Cardinal Jean Villot, the Vatican’s Secretary of State.

(3) The establishment-controlled mainstream media in the USA did not report the very suspicious nature of John Paul I’s sudden and unexpected demise. This is not at all surprising, since the mainstream media in America is probably the most tightly controlled media in the Western World!  If you don’t think so, then please read the outstanding book Into the Buzzsaw (edited by Kristina Borjesson).  This book gives the accounts of over a dozen top journalists who had their stories on certain taboo subjects “spiked” by editors and other powerful people above them.  It is available in hardcover from “Radio Liberty” for $25.50 postpaid.  To order via credit card, please call their toll-free order line at 1-800-544-8927.))

Pope John Paul II [pope: 1978-2005] presided over the second ‘pornography of the Papacy’.  He presided over the greatest, most widespread, immoral scandal of sexual perversion in church history.  Never in the annals of recorded history has such a scandal been displayed for the entire world to see.  Documented case after documented case in the courts of the world, joined by thousands of other cases which never came to light as the BAG-MAN, as he was called, bought the silence of thousands of young men whose cases never came to the courts.  Combined with other ‘faithful’ souls who, although sodomized as children, in their loyalty to mother church never even complained.”

Ronald Cooke (The Death of the Pope of Rome; 2005; Page 14)

II. INFALLIBILITY

The definition of “infallible” according to Webster’s 1828 American Dictionary of the English Language: “Not fallible; not capable of erring; entirely exempt from liability to mistake; (applied to persons).”  (Then Webster’s 1828 Dictionary adds the following interesting note): No man is infallible; to be infallible is the prerogative of God only.” (Emphasis is mine.)

“The Pope has power to change times, to abrogate laws, and to dispense with all things, even the precepts of Christ.

The Pope has authority and has often exercised it, to dispense with the command of Christ.” – Decretal, de Tranlatic Episcop. Cap.

What follows is a small sample taken from the 27 propositions of the “Dictates of Hildebrand” (under the name of Pope Gregory VII):

((Ed. Comments to the preceding quote:

(1) The above quote was taken from the book National Sunday Law by A. Jan Marcussen.

(2) The pope has never been infallible, is not currently infallible, and never will be infallible.  GOD alone is infallible!

(3) GOD will judge the pope and every other human being!

(4) History has recorded that popes, far more often than not, have absolved Roman Catholics from their allegiance to righteous rulers and/or rulers who dared to oppose the Papacy or the Jesuit Order!))

“I wanted to follow the Word of God and, unfortunately, the Pope who is held up as the leader of Christendom holds onto things [Ed. Note: e.g., doctrines and rituals] that contradict the Word of God.  It is very important for everyone to know that the new code of Canon Law number 333 actually says: ‘There is neither appeal or recourse against a decision or decree of the Roman Pontiff.’  This is in the new code of Canon Law that came out in 1983.  That means that the Pope has absolute power and absolute authority as defined in the law books, and everyone is familiar with the decree of Papal infallibility.”

Bob Bush (Ex-Roman Catholic Jesuit priest)

Papal infallibility, as official Roman Catholic dogma, was not sanctioned by the Church until 1870, when Pope Pius IX and his backers orchestrated a massive manipulation of the Vatican I Council of 1869-1870.  Here are four quotes dealing with the conduct of the Vatican I Council (the first is by August Bernhard Hasler; two are by Dave Hunt, and the fourth is by Loraine Boettner):

“The whole business [behind the scenes of the Vatican I Council of 1869-1870] amounted to a clear manipulation of the Council.”

August Bernhard Hasler (Swiss historian and scholar; How the Pope Became Infallible)

((Ed. Comments to the preceding quote:

(1) Hasler met an “untimely death” shortly after finishing his manuscript.  He had served five years in the Vatican Secretariat for Christian Unity.

(2) Pope Pius IX and the Jesuits shoved “papal infallibility” down the collective throats of Roman Catholics through massive manipulation of the Vatican I Council.))

“Much of what we know about the sinister intrigue behind the scenes and the dishonest conclusion of [the] Vatican I [Council of 1869-1870] is owing to the work of Swiss historian and scholar August Bernhard Hasler. What he learnedabout Vatican I was so disturbingthat he felt compelled to write How the Pope Became Infallible. Hasler met an untimely death just after the manuscript was finished.

Devout Catholics today have sincerely believed the deceitful impression given by their Church that Vatican I’s declaration of [papal] infallibility represented the mind and will of the attending bishops.  On the contrary, many bishops were strongly opposed to affirming [papal] infallibility both on scriptural and traditional grounds.  Some left in protest before the final vote was taken, and only affirmed it later under Vatican threats and for the sake of Church unity.

Oppressive rules were imposed which were designed to stifle opposition and eliminate free discussion.  In the main sessions, those who dared to voice any opposition were interrupted

Sincere [Roman] Catholics believe papal infallibility was passed down from Peter to his successors.  But in fact it was foisted upon the [Roman Catholic] Church by a ruthless cadre of Vatican insiders who conspired to stifle discussion, rigged elections, and literally intimidated bishops into voting, out of fear, for a proposition which they opposed.”

Dave Hunt (A Woman Rides the Beast; 1994; Pages 132, 133)

[Pope] Pius IX [at the Vatican I Council of 1869-1870] constantly applied pressure and threats, engineered behind-the-scenes intrigue, and denounced in vicious terms any who opposed [papal] infallibility.”

Dave Hunt (A Woman Rides the Beast; 1994; Page 137)

“The [Vatican] Council [of 1869-1870] which ratified the infallibility decree was clearly packed in favor of the Jesuit-controlled papal party.”

Loraine Boettner (Roman Catholicism; 1962; Page 244)

“There is no doubt that the claim of [papal] infallibility further encourages the despotism which is already so much a part of the papacy.  Despotism in turn leads to contempt for truth because the despot’s power over others must be maintained at all cost.”

Dave Hunt (A Woman Rides the Beast; 1994; Page 136)

Dave Hunt, in A Woman Rides the Beast, asks the important question as to how two “infallible” individuals (i.e., two different popes) can hold opposite opinions and both be right!  Please consider the following quote by Dave Hunt:

“Two persons [Ed. Note: such as two different popes] holding opposite opinions can’t both be right. Yet popes have almost made a business of contradicting one another on key issues. [Pope] Agapetus (535-536) [A.D.] burned the anathema which [Pope] Boniface II (530-532) had solemnly issued against [Pope] Dioscorus (530). The latter is shown as an antipope, but Agapetus, who sided with him, is shown as a true pope. [Pope] Adrian II (867-872) said civil marriages were valid; [Pope] Pius VII (1800-1823) declared them invalid. Both men are shown as legitimate popes.  [Pope] Nicholas V (1447-1455) voided all of [Pope] Eugenius IV’s (1431-1447) ‘documents, processes, decrees, and censures against the Council [of Basle]to be regarded as having never existed’, yet both remain on the official list of popes today.

On July 21, 1773, Pope Clement XIV issued a decree [Ed. note: “forever”] suppressing the Jesuits, only to have it reversed by a decree restoring them, issued by Pope Pius VII on August 7, 1814.  [Pope] Eugenius IV condemned Joan of Arc (1412-1431) to be burned as a witch and heretic, but she was beatified by [Pope] Pius X (1903-1914) in 1909 and canonized by [Pope] Benedict XV (1914-1922) in 1920.  How could an ‘infallible’ pope condemn a saint to death as a witch and heretic? Yet [Pope] Eugenius IV remains on the list of allegedly infallible ‘successors of Peter’.

History conclusively denies both apostolic succession and papal infallibility. And in fact many popes denied the latter [i.e., papal infallibility] also, among them Vigilius (537-555), Clement IV (1265-1268), Gregory XI (1370-1378), Adrian VI (1522-1523), Paul IV (1555-1559), and even Innocent III (1198-1216), who ruled Europe with an iron hand. Then why was Pope Pius IX so determined to immortalize this obvious fraud as official dogma?

There was a very special reason: Infallibility was the final desperate prop which Pius IX hoped would support the collapsing structure of the Roman Catholic domination over the governments of the world and their citizens. To establish that dogma once for all, he convened the First Vatican Council [on] December 8, 1869.” (A Woman Rides the Beast; 1994; Pages 117, 118)

((Ed. Comments to the preceding quote:

(1) Dates shown above in parentheses for popes are their years reigning as pope.

(2) No pope ever was, or ever will be, infallible – even when speaking or acting “ex cathedra”!

(3) Pope Clement XIV was assassinated (poisoned to death) by the Jesuits in 1774 as “payback” for his suppression of the Jesuit Order in 1773.  Pope Pius VII indeed restored the Jesuit Order in 1814 – but only in exchange for his release from the prison where he had spent five years.))

Charles Haddon Spurgeon (1834-1892; famous Victorian Baptist preacher and writer) wrote the following about “papal infallibility”:

[H. Henri] Lasserre discovered the Four Gospelshe thought that the fourfold story of Jesus [Christ] was the very book that France wanted  He devoutly set to work to translate the original into the French [language] of the day; making, not exactly a literal translation, but one which would command a reading from the ordinary Frenchman.  Not in chapters and verses, but like an ordinary book, the gospel narrative flowed on in a charming manner. The version was as faithful as Henri Lasserre could make it  For a preface, it bore in its forefront a lamentation over the neglect of the gospels by Catholics.  The book appeared with the imprimatur of the Archbishop of Paris, and the approval and benediction of the Pope!

The Gospels, thus recommended, obtained a ready sale; edition followed edition, till the twenty-fifth appeared. Probably 100,000 copies were sold…Suddenly ‘the Sacred Congregation’ discovered that an ‘error’ had been committed, and a decree was issued from the Apostolic Palace of the Vatican, with the approval of ‘OUR MOST HOLY LORD, POPE LEO XIII’ [pope: 1878-1903], condemning the translation of Henri Lasserre, to be placed upon the index of forbidden books.  An ‘infallible’ benediction was removed to make room for an equally ‘infallible’ malediction in the space of twelve months and fifteen days.”

“Pope Sixtus V had a version of the Bible prepared which he declared to be authentic. Two years later Pope Clement VIII declared that it was full of errors and ordered another to be made!

Pope Gregory I repudiated the title of ‘Universal Bishop’ as being ‘profane, superstitious, haughty, and invented by the first apostate’.  Yet, through the centuries, other popes have claimed the title.

Pope Hadrian II (867-872) declared civil marriage to be valid, but Pope Pius VII (1800-1823) condemned them as invalid.

Pope Eugene IV (1431-1447) condemned Joan of Arc to be burned alive as a witch.  Later, another pope, Benedict IV, in 1919 declared her to be a ‘saint’.

When we consider the hundreds of times and ways that popes have contradicted each other over the centuries, we can understand how the idea of papal infallibility is difficult for many people to accept.  While it is true that most papal statements are not made within the narrow limits of the 1870 ‘ex cathedra’ definition, yet if popes have erred in so many other ways, how can they be guaranteed a divine infallibility for a few moments when they decide to speak ex cathedra?” – Ralph Edward Woodrow (Babylon Mystery Religion: Ancient and Modern; 1966; Page 94)

“Defenders of Papal Infallibility try to get over the difficulty caused by the many differences of various popes in matters of doctrine by drawing a distinction between a pope’s private views and his utterances ‘ex cathedra’, that is, official, as pope. But this is flimsy. It is a pitiful pretence to say that when a man occupying the official position of pope signs a paper or publishes an opinion on subjects upon which he is regarded as infallible, that he is not speaking officially. It makes the dogma of infallibility very elusive”

Samuel D. Benedict (Catholic Doctrine in the Bible; Page 14)

“It took the professedly infallible popes eighteen hundred years to discover and define their own infallibility, and to make it an article of faith which people must believe. This was done in Rome at the Vatican Council of 1870.

At that Council there was a great debate, in which Bishop Strossmayer, Bishop Kendrick, [German Roman Catholic Church historian] Dr. Dollinger, and many other Roman [Catholic] prelates, opposed the dogma of Papal infallibility. When the dogma was decreed, many priests and multitudes of people, including the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Utrecht, Holland, Holland, and all of his priests and congregations, withdrew from the Roman Catholic Church and formed the Old Catholic Church. This Church introduced many reforms, and spread over Europe, and from Europe it came to America. In America the Old Catholic Church is also known as the Evangelical Catholic Church.”

Samuel D. Benedict (Catholic Doctrine in the Bible; Page 15)

We will now look at some excerpts from a speech in opposition to “papal infallibility” delivered by Roman Catholic Bishop Strossmayer at the Vatican Council of 1869-1870.  First, though, here is what Frank McClelland wrote in July 1991 concerning Roman Catholic Bishop Strossmayer’s speech:

“The First Vatican Council of the Roman Catholic institution was held in 1869-1870. It was this Council which declared the pope to be infallibleincapable of error in matters of faith and morals when speaking ‘ex cathedra’, in the exercise of his office.  However, the doctrine [of papal infallibility] was not promulgated without opposition from within the ranks of the Roman [Catholic] hierarchy, and several dignitaries spoke against its acceptance – a fact not advertised by [Papal] Rome.

One of the leaders of the opposition [to the doctrine of papal infallibility] was the scholarly Josip Juraj Strossmayer (1815-1905), [Roman Catholic] Bishop of Djakovo in Croatia. In the Vatican Council [of 1869-1870] [Bishop] Strossmayer took a strong and scriptural stand against papal infallibility and his speech represents a concise summary of many of the arguments used today to show the unscriptural nature of the papacy and its pretentious claims. Like [German Reformer Martin] Luther, [Roman Catholic Bishop] Strossmayer fearlessly exposed the unbiblical grounds of the papacy.”

What follows now are excerpts from Roman Catholic Bishop Strossmayer’s speech to the First Vatican Council [1869-1870]:

“I [i.e., Bishop Strossmayer] have set myself to study with the most serious attention the Old and New Testaments, and I have asked these venerable monuments of truth to make known to me if the holy pontiff [i.e., the Pope], who presides here, is truly the successor of [the Apostle] St. Peter, vicar of Jesus Christ, and the infallible doctor of the [Roman Catholic] church.

I find in the apostolic days no question [i.e., discussion; controversy; dispute of the topic] of a pope, successor to [the Apostle] St Peter

Now, having read the whole New Testament, I declare before Godthat I have found no trace of the papacy as it exists this moment.

Reading then the sacred booksI do not find one single chapter, or one little verse, in which Jesus Christ gives to St. Peter the mastery over the apostles, his fellow-workers.

[Jesus] Christ – so says the Holy Scripture – forbade Peter and his colleagues to reign or to exercise lordship, or to have authority over the faithful like the kings of the Gentiles (St. Luke 22:25 [and 26]).

Now, while we [Roman Catholic prelates] teach that the church is built upon St. Peter, St. Paul (whose authority cannot be doubted) says, in his epistle to the Ephesians 2:20, [that] it [i.e., the church] is built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, [with] Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone.  The same apostle [i.e., the Apostle Paul], counting up the offices of the church, mentions apostles, prophets, evangelists, doctors, and pastors. Is it to be believedthat St. Paul, the great apostle of the Gentiles, would have forgotten the first of these offices, the papacy, if the papacy had been of divine institution?

The apostle Paul makes no mention, in any of his letters directed to the various churches, of the primacy of Peter.  If this primacy had existed, if, in one word, the church had in its body a supreme head infallible in teaching, would the great apostle of the Gentiles have forgotten to mention it?

Neither in the writings of St. Paul, St. John, nor St. James, have I found a trace or germ of the papal power.  St. Luke, the historian of the missionary labors of the apostles, is silent on this all-important point [i.e., of Peter’s primacy].  The silence of these holy men, whose writings make part of the canon of divinely inspired Scriptures, has appeared to me burdensome and impossible, if [the Apostle] Peter had been pope

Scalinger, one of the most learned of men, has not hesitated to say that St. Peter’s episcopate and residence at Rome ought to be classed with ridiculous legends.

I have sought for a pope in the first four centuries and not found him.

The importance of the bishops of Rome proceeded not from a divine power, but [rather] from the importance of the city in which they had their seat.

The Sixth Council of Carthage forbade all the bishops to take the title of prince of the bishops, or sovereign bishop.  As for this title of universal bishop, which the popes took later, St. Gregory I [i.e., pope: 590-604], believing that his successors would never think of adorning themselves with it, wrote these remarkable words: ‘None of my predecessors has consented to take this profane name [i.e., universal bishop]; for when a patriarch gives himself the name of Universal, the  title of patriarch suffers discredit.’

I establish: (1) That Jesus [Christ] has given to His apostles the same power that He gave to St. Peter. (2) That the apostles [of Jesus Christ] never recognized in St. Peter the vicar of Jesus Christ and the infallible doctor of the Church. (3) That St. Peter never thought of being pope, and never acted as if he were pope. (4) That the [Church] Councils of the first four centuries, while they recognized the high position which the Bishop of Rome occupied in the Church on account of Rome, only accorded him a pre-eminence of honor, never of power or of jurisdiction. (5) That the ‘holy’ fathers in the famous passage, ‘Thou art Peter, and on this rock I will build my church’, never understood that the church was built on Peter (super Petrum) but on the rock (super petram), that is, on the confession of the faith of the apostle.  I concludethat Jesus Christ did not confer any supremacy on St. Peter and that the bishops of Rome did not become sovereigns of the church, but only by confiscating one by one all the rights of the episcopate [i.e., of the bishops collectively].

History raises its voice to assure us that some popes have erred. [Pope] Hadrian II (867-872) declared civil marriages to be valid; [Pope] Pius VII (1800-1823) condemned them. [Pope] Sixtus V (1585-1590) published an edition of the Bible, and by a bull recommended it to be read; [Pope] Pius VII condemned the reading of it. [Pope] Clement XIV (1769-1774) abolished the order of the Jesuits, permitted by [Pope] Paul III, and Pius VII reestablished it.

If then you [i.e., the Roman Catholic prelates at the First Vatican Council] proclaim the infallibility of the actual [i.e., the existing; the current] pope, [then] you must either prove that which is impossible – that the popes never contradicted each other – or else you must declare that the Holy Spirit has revealed to you that the infallibility of the papacy only dates from 1870.  Are you bold enough to do this?” – Josip Juraj Strossmayer (1815-1905; Roman Catholic bishop; 1870)

((Ed. Comment to the preceding quote: Bishop Strossmayer gave other examples of various popes contradicting other popes’ decisions and declarations.  Those he did provide, along with other examples provided in this newsletter, should be sufficient to prove that the Roman Pontiff, the Roman Catholic Pope, is not, nor ever has been, nor ever will be, “infallible”.))

“In the New Testament, in addition to the two letters written by [the Apostle] Peter, we have thirteen [letters] written by [the Apostle] Paul.  But in none of those [i.e., the 13 Pauline epistles] does he [Paul] refer to Peter as the bishop of Rome, or [as the bishop] of any other church. In Paul’s most important letter, that to the church of Rome, he does not so much as mention Peter. In his letter to Timothy he mentions the office of bishop or elder, but he does not mention that of archbishop, supreme bishop, or pope. Surely if such an important office as supreme bishop or pope existed he [i.e., the Apostle Paul] would have mentioned it. Nor in the literature of the early church during the second or third century is there any mention of a supreme bishop or pope. There are references to [Jesus] Christ as the Chief Shepherd, but none to any man as having that [title] or any similar title.” – Loraine Boettner (Roman Catholicism; 1962; Page 239)

“The infallibility of the pope is not taught in the New Testament. Even the office of pope is not once mentioned in the Bible. If St. Peter were the infallible pope of the Church, he knew nothing about it. He [i.e., the Apostle Peter] wrote several of the books of the New Testament, and if he had been pope or infallible, he certainly would have claimed that honor for himself, but he did not. If there was to be a pope over the church, and if that pope were to be infallible, [then] why does not the New Testament say so? But it does not, and this silence is conclusive proof that our Lord never appointed any pope, nor intended that there should ever be one.”

Samuel D. Benedict (Catholic Doctrine in the Bible; Page 18)

“They [i.e., the popes of Rome] have assumed infallibility, which belongs only to God.  They profess to forgive sin, which belongs only to God.”

CLARK’S COMMENTARY (Commenting on Daniel 7:25)

“The fact is: the popes are not infallible. They [i.e., the popes of Rome] not only contradict themselves, but [they also] contradict the [Holy] Bible as well. All the fanfare of wealth, the tinsel of ceremony, and the prestige of power which we witness at [Papal] Rome cannot avail before God.”

Dr. R. Laird Harris (Professor of Old Testament, Covenant Theological Seminary, St. Louis)

“The only infallible being in the world is God.”

Samuel D. Benedict (Catholic Doctrine in the Bible; Page 14)

“It is not the pope, but the [Holy] Bible, which is infallible.”

Samuel D. Benedict (Catholic Doctrine in the Bible; Page 18)

III. SUMMARY

Anyone who studies the Holy Bible from cover to cover cannot but help to notice the pure evil of any human being on earth claiming a prerogative [per Webster’s New World Dictionary: “a prior or exclusive right or privilege, especially one peculiar to a rank, class, etc.”] that belongs ONLY TO GOD ALMIGHTY – in this case, “infallibility”!

The very great danger of any human being – or office or institution on Earth – claiming to be “infallible” is best summed up in the following quotation by Dave Hunt, author of the excellent book A Woman Rides the Beast (1994):

“There is no doubt that the claim of [papal] infallibility further encourages the despotism which is already so much a part of the papacy.  Despotism in turn leads to contempt for truth because the despot’s power over others must be maintained at all cost.” (Page 136)

Papal Rome’s history of ecclesiastic tyranny and despotism was due in large part to false papal assumptions such as papal supremacy over kings and nations (i.e., the divine right of popes to rule over all earthly sovereigns).  And the capstone to all this papal pomp and pretentious pride was reached when papal infallibility became official dogma of the Roman Catholic Church in 1870.  Let all of us carefully study the entire Bible, and we will, if honest, come to the conclusion that no human being is infallible.  ALL have sinned, and come short of the glory of God!” (Please see Romans 3:23.)  GOD alone is infallible!

IV. TWO FINAL QUOTES TO PONDER

“But the historical sketch that we have given plainly shows that the pope is NOT ‘Christ in office’ or in any other way.  The contrast is apparent.  The very expensive crowns worn by the popes have cost millions of dollars.  Jesus [Christ], during His earthly life, wore no crown except the crown of thorns. The pope is waited on by servants.  What a contrast to the lowly Nazarene who came not to be ministered to, but to minister! The popes dress in garments that are very elaborate and costly – patterned after those of the Roman emperors of pagan days. Such vanity is contrasted to our Savior who wore the gown of a peasant.  The immorality of many of the popes – especially in past centuries – stands in striking contrast to the Christ who is perfect in holiness and purity.

In view of these things, we believe the claim that the pope is the ‘Vicar of Christ’ is without any basis in fact.”

Ralph Edward Woodrow (Babylon Mystery Religion: Ancient and Modern; 1966; Page 95)

“Why does the [Roman] Catholic church want you to believe that the pope and other [Roman] Catholic leaders are infallible in matters of doctrine? Is it to bring members into further bondage and obedience to the [Roman] Catholic church?

Where do fallible men obtain the authority to declare other men infallible?

Why does the [Roman] Catholic church refuse to honor Jesus Christ by acknowledging Him as the only infallible One, as the Holy Scriptures teach?”

Rick Jones (Understanding Roman Catholicism; 1995; Page 62)
